Dear colleagues and friends, We as Sofia Puppet Theatre Theatre together with Sofia Municipality, Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria and the Association of Puppet Theatres in Bulgaria - AKT - UNIMA, Bulgaria organize a biennial festival for street and puppet theatre - PUPPET FAIR - SOFIA 2012. It will be held from 17 to 22 of September 2012 for the seventh time in Sofia - Bulgaria, in order to showcase the very best of puppet artistry from many different countries. Creating a forum for aesthetic and cultural exchange, the festival is a unique opportunity for professional artists from different countries to meet each other. PUPPET FAIR typically attracts judges and directors of leading international festivals, as well as the attention of critics and the media. It has become one of the most important events in the realm of puppet theatre to take place in Bulgaria. In the sixth edition of the festival Bulgarian audience saw performances from Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Holland, Hungary, Croatia, Russia, South Korea, Italy, France, Greece, Uruguay and many others. In PUPPET FAIR may participate as street performances and performances that can be played in theaters. No genre, style and age restrictions for participating shows. The aim is to show the diversity and richness of puppet art. The festival does not have a commercial or competitive character! THE SELECTION COMMITTEE HAS ALREADY BEGUN ITS WORK. We appeal to your National center of UNIMA asking to publish this information and to inform your members about the opportunity to participate in the selection.
